Venture Studio

Explore the Studio

Veran Ventures Studio is a venture studio built on one idea: the most valuable thing an early-stage company can receive is the working time of people who have already built, scaled, and sold companies. The Studio does not lead with a check. It leads with management consulting, delivered by members of the Veran venture community: seasoned executives, investors, and sector specialists in more than 30 cities across North America, Europe, and Asia. Their job is to help founders move from Seed stage to exit faster and with fewer mistakes. Funding is available when it makes sense, but it supports the advisory work rather than driving it.

Why Consulting First

Capital is easier to find than judgment. Seed-stage companies rarely fail for lack of money alone. They fail because of avoidable errors: pricing that does not hold, hires made too early or too late, governance that was never set up, regulatory steps that were missed, or a fundraising process started with no leverage. Traditional venture studios often build companies in-house and fund them. The Veran Ventures Studio works differently. It gives founders direct access to experienced practitioners who have faced the same decisions, backed by a portfolio of more than 300 companies and over a decade of investing in the venture community.

How It Works

Companies enter through the same disciplined screening behind Veran’s monthly cohorts. To qualify for participation in the Venture Studio, a company must have participated in a Veran Ventures Roadshow and must have a completed due diligence report created by Veran Ventures. The company and members of the Veran Ventures Studio Committee will create a proposal of work that meets the needs of the company going forward. The Studio begins with a venture-readiness diagnostic, then scopes an engagement and assembles a team: a lead engagement partner and two to four member-consultants matched to the company’s stage, sector, and geography. Each engagement has defined deliverables and a shared Path-to-Exit Plan with milestones for product, revenue, team, and capital, reviewed every quarter. Consultants can work as advisors, as fractional executives, or as embedded project leads. Compensation is arranged case by case and may include fees, equity, or a combination. Where the company and the Studio agree that capital would accelerate the plan, funding can be provided or arranged through members and co-investors, tied to milestones.

Engagement Models

Founders need different kinds of help at different moments, so the Studio offers four ways to work together. Companies can combine them or move between them as they grow.

  • Advisory sprint. A short, fixed-scope engagement that answers one defined question, such as a pricing review, a fundraising plan, or a market-entry assessment.
  • Ongoing advisory. A standing relationship with one or more member-consultants who meet regularly with the founders, review progress against the Path-to-Exit Plan, and open doors as needed.
  • Fractional role. An experienced executive, such as a CFO, COO, or head of sales, works part-time or on an interim basis and owns outcomes inside the company.
  • Embedded project lead. A member-consultant joins the team for a time-bound initiative, such as a product launch, a regulatory submission, or preparation for a sale, and works alongside staff until it is complete.

How Members Are Matched to Companies

The quality of the match decides the quality of the engagement, so the Studio treats it as a deliberate process rather than an introduction.

  • Needs first. The venture-readiness diagnostic identifies the company’s most pressing gaps by function, stage, and sector.
  • Profiles that go deep. Each member-consultant maintains a profile covering functional expertise, sector experience, geography, languages, and availability. Studio tools help surface likely matches, and the lead engagement partner makes the final recommendation.
  • Founder choice. Founders meet the proposed team before the engagement begins and can ask for changes. Chemistry matters as much as credentials.
  • Conflict checks. Members disclose any competing interests, existing investments, or relationships that could affect their advice, and the Studio resolves them before work starts.
  • Review and rotation. Quarterly reviews test whether the team still fits. As the company moves from Seed toward exit, consultants can be added, swapped, or retired to match what the company needs next.

What Makes It Cutting Edge

  • Member-led delivery. Consultants are practicing investors and operators from the Veran community, not a generalist staff. Founders work with people who have lived their problems.
  • AI-enabled consulting. Studio-built tools for diligence, market mapping, financial modeling, and investor matching compress weeks of analysis into days, so member time goes to judgment and relationships.
  • Global bench, local presence. Members in dozens of cities give founders on-the-ground help and introductions in the markets that matter, through in-person roadshows and virtual sessions.
  • Flexible engagement models. Short advisory sprints, ongoing fractional roles, or deep embedded engagements, scaled to what each company needs at its current stage.
  • Collaborative culture. The candid, rigorous, and collegial tone that defines Veran meetings carries into every engagement, among members and with founders.
